Talk about a whirlwind! We have been very busy and seeing a lot in the Netherlands!
Aalsmeer, the largest flower auction in the world, did not disappoint! We were lucky to receive an exclusive tour of the auction. As one may expect, the red rose is the #1 seller of the auction. In order to maintain high prices, any flowers not sold above their designated minimum price are destroyed at the end of the day.

We went to The Hague, the city which houses the Dutch government. In The Hague, most of their buildings are from the 1400’s! We visited the U.S. Embassy and I had the opportunity to introduce the agricultural attache, Susan Philips, to the class. Afterword, we tried some traditional Dutch foods like Kibbeling!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!
🙂 Just the size of the flower auction is a big WOW, but then knowing that each morning the place fills up and then empties out WOW again.
