As I am reflecting on my trip, a few highlights stand out to me. The pictures below show some of my favorite experiences.
I noticed how Dutch business people invest heavily in their operations and look long into the future. Technology is used to improve efficiency and save money. Based on my experiences, quality is important to the Dutch. Meals, time spent with family, and their work are of high quality. The Dutch don’t merely eat, but they dine. When we would go to restaurants, we would be there for much longer than an American restaurant because speed is not as important as quality.
From this trip, I realized I am interested in agri-marketing. I saw how the Dutch market their agricultural commodities and compared it to how Americans market their goods. This year, I am going to contact someone with a career in agri-marketing to ask them questions about their job and maybe even job shadow.
Also, I would like to thank Dr. Nikola and Dr. Plumley for teaching us about leadership skills and agriculture. They showed us how to manage a meeting, introduce a speaker, and facilitate a productive discussion. On a personal level, they were role models of successful women in their careers that I can look up to.
I would like to thanks SEBS for this opportunity to travel the world! I have learned a lot and experienced new things. I witnessed how people different from me live their lives. I am eager to apply what I have learned to the rest of my studies.
