Oaxaca has been incredible so far! We have been exploring and adapting this week, and I can’t believe how the group already feels like family in a matter of days. The places we have visited and the food have been amazing so far and I am eager to see more of what Oaxaca has to offer. We visited places such as Hierve el Agua, where there are natural pools made by the rock formation there. The view from the place was amazing. We also visited the sites we will be doing service learning at, and I was placed in a Horse Therapy site which I cannot wait to start working at! There was a large difference when driving from the center of the city to the outskirts of it which was the sound. It is a lot quieter and there are more open fields used for growing corn, beans, and squash together, which is a unique crop-growing system called milpa. The view walking through there was also amazing, and you can always see the large mountains in the distance from wherever you are. That is something I can definitely get used to!
