On Tuesday we met our guide, Nat, who would accompany us for the rest of our class. We visited the local clinic and then went for home visits. The home visits were heavy. The three cases we went to the people either had a stroke, diabetes, hypertension, or all three. We were puzzled as to why there were so many cases of diabetes in rural farmers. Our director told us that the introduction of fast food like KFC and McDonalds was partially to blame.
After our home visits we went to a monastery. Our guide explained that at the monastery they save turtles and fish from being eaten or sold and they keep them at the monastery to make merit. So when we were there we paid a coin and filled up a mug with fish food. We then fed a bunch of huge fish. We also bought some veggies and fed the many turtles that were at the temple.
