On Wednesday we went to a school to volunteer for three days. We started our morning with the Pre-schoolers who were just in there first week of school, which confused me. I realized Thailand’s rainy season had just begun, so they must have there summer break during the dry season. The children were learning how to color, the Thai alphabet, and the English alphabet. My group then split into two and my partner and I taught the third grade class English numbers and shapes. We played games and the children loved it.
At night we went to learn how to give a Thai massage. As someone who has never given a massage or received a professional massage, this was very interesting to me. They taught us the pressure points in the body. We were told to press in with our thumbs and put our body wait in for about ten seconds in twenty different spots. As a small person I struggled to get myself to apply enough pressure when I was practicing on my partner. It was quite challenging, but after I had it done on myself, I noticed the relaxing benefits of a Thai massage.
