I didn’t really know what to expect when I first arrived in Thailand and after learning about the culture the food the tradition the religion I have grown a much greater understanding about what this country’s really about. I had the opportunity to get to see Thailand in another way aside for the tourist view. I lived in a local home in Bangkok ate at local outdoor booths where the food was cooked right in front of you (which was so spicy and so amazing), I got to work with children in a school nearby, and visited a hospital where I taught English to the staff. I got to see the country in a way I could never have done without the Cross Cultural Solutions program. I have never traveled to a place so far or to a country who’s culture is much different than my own and I am so glad I did. I have grown so much as a person and it was amazing to see the lifestyle of people on the other side of the world. Helping the staff and children was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and I just proved how just a small helping hand can make a difference in the lives of these children. The staff altogether was so wonderful and welcoming. One of the hardest goodbye in this trip was the CCS staff who was with us every step of the way. The motherly guidance and love shines through with so many of the staff and the head volunteer from my group was more than just our group leader, she was our friend. I am very thankful to Dr. Robison who joined my group on our adventures and taught us so much about Thai living and made us aware of so many health risk that the community is going through. I felt very prepared, protected, and informed all thanks to Dr. Robison who was one of our primary guidances and friend along this journey. I can not wait to go back and share my experience with my family and friends, and I hope that this is not the last I step foot in Thai ground. Until next time..
