Prior to France, a couple friends and I decided to go to Barcelona for a few days. There we explored the city, did some beautiful sight seeing and enjoyed some nightlife. On Sunday, May 29 we hopped a plane from Barcelona to Paris. We headed over to Gare de Lyon where we locked up our luggage, so that we could go see the Eiffel tour. We ate our first traditional French breakfast, consisting of bread, jam, a croissant and espresso, at a cafe near the train station. After figuring out the metro system we were able to get to Tour d’Eiffel in no time. No picture does this beautiful sight justice. It is truly one of kind, and everyone should try to see it at least once in their life. After taking our tourist-y pictures in front of the tower, my friends, Kelly, Andrew, and I walked under and headed towards the Louvre. Although we didn’t have a chance to go inside we grabbed some crepes and sat on a bench in front of the Louvre, and enjoyed the view of the tower. Although it wasn’t too eventful, this is one of my favorite moments of the trip. Sitting, talking and relaxing in front of the Eiffel tour, eating crepes, isn’t something people can say they’ve done, and I was able to share it with two of my favorite people!
We started to head back to Gare de Lyon after a couple hours so that we could meet everyone under the big clock tower. After gathering our belongings we found Dr. Max and met the rest of the group. After a 2 hour train ride and a short bus ride we arrive in Cluny. We got dropped off right in front of Cluny Sejour where we dropped off our things and then walked around the town with Dr. Max and Dr. Healy. After they filled us in a little bit about Cluny, we all went to dinner at Brossiour de Nord. I had a delicious white fish entree and enjoyed tiramisu for dessert. Considering we all had a long travel day we headed back to Cluny Sejour to get some rest so that we were ready for our first class day with Dr. Max the next day.
