On Thursday, June 2nd we went to a town called Beaune (pronounced Bone). This was probably one of my favorite days where we had the privilege of visiting Bouchard Domain. This winery is very high end, catering to important people. Our professor Dr. Healy was the one to thank for allowing us this amazing opportunity. Of all the wines we had on the trip, some of my favorites were at this wine tasting. Our tour guide, Charles, was divine and showed us all around the beautiful castle of wine. Housing over 2 million bottles of wine this what you call a true wine library. They have bottles of wine that are literally hundreds of years old, that you can still drink!
After spending the morning at Bouchard we all split up and went to lunch. Isaac, Kelly, Emily and I treated ourselves to a 3 course meal that really hit the spot. After meeting back up with the class we went to an old hospital turned museum. It was a beautiful structure with very interesting artifacts inside. I think just about everyone who visits this hospital is memorized by the gorgeous painting, judgement day. The details were absolutely incredible and one of the most amazing works of art I have ever seen. The picture below doesn’t do the art justice, especially because you need a magnifying glass to see the fine details!
Afterword we went to a wine museum where pairs of us each explained a section of the museum and its importance. This was a fun activity to break up the day while still learning at the same time!
