After one week in the Little Caymans I have had the time of my life and have learned a great deal here. Throughout the week we learned how to do reef and sponge transects where you measure and takes notes on the rate of coral bleaching and the size of corals. Yesterday, we took a coral test to help with this coming week’s projects. I had trouble getting all of them, but I’m going to keep studying till I know most of my corals. Today to cap off the week’s work we had a scavenger hunt to learn more about the island and view some historical spots. There’s one spot called Tarpon Lake where it’s rumored that one hurricane carried tons of tarpon from the ocean almost 200 hundred years ago. When the lake dried up all but the tarpon died and the tarpon still are alive there to this day. I’m looking forward to the work ahead of me and the adventures that await.
