Since the last time I’ve posted we have gone on several research dives for our projects. We are getting to the point where we are consolidating the data we collected, and putting together our posters. Each group is going to submit their poster electronically to conferences to be able to broadcast the results they have found. Being a part of awesome and important research is just incredible. Also, the researchers and professors I have met in the process are amazing and very down-to-earth. I always think of how little time I have left and it genuinely upsets me because I have been having the time of my life. The beautiful marine animals, plants and interactions I have witnessed first-hand are unbelievable; definitely not something you can see or do in New Jersey. Today I was able to get up-close and personal with a southern stingray, and on other dives I’ve been close to nurse sharks, barracudas, lobsters, jellyfish and other predator species. It’s incredible to truly understand that these animals are honestly harmless and just curious creatures. I’ve loved every dive I have gone on, and everyday I have been here so far. We only have 3 full days left and it breaks my heart, but I am so thankful for the experiences I have been blessed with.
