On Wednesday, August 10 at 2 pm, I turned in my final essay to the International Summer School Office at the University of Sussex, thus finishing my class and studies abroad in the United Kingdom. Although I want to say it was a bittersweet moment, I am beyond excited to have the burden of writing an essay worth 70% of my grade lifted off of my shoulders. My topic had to do with how the securitization of infectious diseases is beneficial in certain cases (I know, so interesting). I won’t bore anyone with my research and discussion, but long story short I argued that placing more emphasis on stopping the spread of contagious diseases is not always a bad thing.
This topic did interest me, but it was great to finish my module. I cannot believe I am done with this course already, I feel as if I was just looking at the syllabus and wondering what we were going to discuss not too long ago. Just 12 classes later, I can (hopefully) say I have an understanding of health in a global perspective. All I need to prove that is the transcript from the University of Sussex which holds my grade for the class.
I am extremely glad to be done with my coursework. This doesn’t mean I’m leaving the United Kingdom just yet, I still have 3 more days in this lovely country. Me and my friends plan on exploring Brighton even more, and look forward to being able to enjoy ourselves here knowing we are done with our modules.
A couple of classmates and me celebrating after finishing our module.
