Today I cut labels, labeled, and packaged bottles. I think that I have consumed a yearly amount of carbs in 1 month. I’ve also ditched shoes for bare feet and have so many mosquito/spider bites that I was able to draw the milky way with a pen through them. I even have a mosquito bite on my face next to my eye. My fault for leaving my bedroom window open. Tonight we watched a French movie in French. I think I understood 30% of it. Yesterday, they had 4 men visit and they were also jehovahs( like every person I have come in contact with so far). The men got a tour of the farm and one knew 10 languages so he translated the tour for me which was super nice and educational. We also had a wine tasting with the vineyards wines (which are so good).
July 12/July 13
I went to Toulouse this past weekend and met up with friends. I ended up getting there and breaking my shoe so had to buy new shoes and ended up getting blisters. But I did visit the museum of natural history ( it was all in French) and It was very cool. However, I woke up Monday morning unable to walk due to the horrible foot infection I had due to blisters. Since I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t work. So I baked, picked some raspberries, and sorted cilantro. Today the swelling is a little better, but the pain is still there. Agile clay helped the swelling. My French teacher Anna came to visit and ended up bringing me to the doctors. I got antibiotics and the doctor felt so bad for me, she didn’t even charge me. July 13: Today I was given a vacuum and told to go get all the spiders in the barn. There must have been over 100 and my skin is crawling. Definitely not something I ever want to do again. However, the foot swelling went down a lot and tomorrow I will work in the vineyards. Today I helped Nathalie cook lunch which was fun. We made legume lasagna. We also watched a film and then went to an organic market in montabaun. We got kebabs for dinner together.
Side note: really going to miss their wine. Also, this trip has made me a very observant person which is something I never was because I talk so much and never just sit back and listen.
