As the “study” part of my study abroad is now completed, I am left with a few days left in the United Kingdom. My friends and I have just come back from our farewell dinner, which included a ceremony and food. Of course, fish and chips were served. They really are worth the hype.
The farewell ceremony was amazing, yet nostalgic. It was great watching the slideshow they put together for us, but it made me realize how much I am going to miss my friends. Sitting around people from Japan, India, the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the USA, and China – it hit me that in a few short days we will all be on totally separate parts of the world. This experience has honestly been so much more than I expected. I went in thinking that most international students would be from the United States, as the level of English students were expected to have was high. However, it was great to meet students from all over, as everyone comes from a different part of the world with different perspectives and different lifestyles. In fact, my flat (like a dorm floor but less people) included 5 students from 5 different countries.

Our night concluded with a visit to Brighton, and to go clubbing with our group for a final time. It was extremely fun, but some of the girls started crying once they realized it was the last time we would go out together for a while.
