Scrubs, luggage, and off to Belize oh my! I weird feeling of nostalgia has surrounded me these past few days making time feel like it has really been standing still. Only two weeks ago I was finishing the last of my finals and then running (ok let’s be honest I was “speed walking”—finals week pretty much left me in a crunch-in-munch mindset) back to my dorm to cram-pack everything into the back of our Honda CRV. Packing for a second time to leave out again has left my mind spinning but somehow not having a sense of time has given me the chance to focus all my energy on the present moment—a sort of luxury after having so many distractions with assignments and club meetings pulling at my attention all the time. I was reminded of the simplicity of such moments while purchasing much needed scrubs and stethoscope for this trip. It pulled me back in time when I was a child and the excitement that overcame me as I tried on my first pair of scrubs to go out later trick-or-treating for Halloween. Never would I have thought that ten years later, I would be where I am now heading off to Belize to study with veterinarians and work alongside people fueled by the same passion for animals like myself (I won’t lie. I literally ran around my house the moment I had a chance to put my scrubs :). I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity and cannot thank everyone including the SEBS Office of Global Engagement Office enough for helping to make this trip possible!
So excited for you and for all you will learn! Looking forward to more of your posts! Sending love–God speed!
