Hey everyone! The past couple of days have been so busy. My first weekend here my group and I decided to go on a tour encompassing the hike of Hierve el Agua and a walk around the architectural site Mitla. Hierve el Agua is made up of rocks that naturally took on the form of a cascading waterfall and has two mineral pools that sit at the edge of it. And let me tell you, it was one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen! I could not believe how breathtaking the view of mountains could be and just how beautiful nature is.
Mitla is an ancient Zapotec city. It’s name means the “Place of Death”. The city got its name because this was the typical place where sacrifices were made and people of high status, such as rulers, were buried. For a city that stood centuries ago, it is incredible how much of its remains stayed in tact.
