One week has already passed and I am in utter shock. Germany is so much more than I envisioned. I have been to Europe before, but never in Germany and I can’t believe that they are similar in certain ways. I have been to Italy before a couple of times and the architecture is very similar.
The food here is so good. The people here are so nice. The transportation here is so reliable.
After being away from home I am noticing these things. Walking down the streets of Berlin, strangers actually do say “hello” and “good morning” and it just gives a nice start to the day. I thought the language barrier would be more of an issue, but so far everyone speaks enough of English that I can have a conversation and I can order food at a restaurant.
My classes are so much fun!! Since I am a Landscape Architecture major, most of my classes are outside and traveling to site-see Berlin. My professor lived in Berlin for 20 years so he is showing us the BEST places to visit! There couldn’t have been a better choice to show us around Berlin than him. On average we have been walking 10 miles a day and I have classes from Sunday-Friday. It is very tiring, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. In two weeks we will be working with Landscape architecture students from the Technical University of Berlin and I am excited to see how their schooling differs from our schooling at Rutgers.
I just posted my week one video on youtube check it out:
