I cant believe the day has finally come… the day I get to go to Paris!!!!!!!!!!!! I Have been dreaming of this day happening all my life, but honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to go. Paris has always been the top place in the world I have wanted to go visit, so the fact that I was living my dream was so surreal. My whole body was shaking with excitement the whole way to the airport that my mom thought I was having a caffeine rush. We were flying to Paris from the Dusseldorf airport in Germany. Pairs is relatively pretty close to Germany, so the plane ride was only 45 minutes long. I was relieved I was flying instead of taking a train because that meant I had more time to relax and enjoy myself in Paris instead of traveling!
The first thing we did in Paris when we landed was try to find the hostel we would be staying in. I was so overwhelmed by all the commotion going on at first that it took longer than I expected to find the hostel. I have been in NYC plenty of times before, however I was still overwhelmed by the rowdiness and congestion Paris displayed. This was probably due to the fact that in NYC everyone speaks English, but obviously in Pairs, this is not the same. When I finally found my hostel I immediately checked in my stuff, got changed, and was set out and ready to start adventuring around Paris.
The first destination I went to was the Louvre Museum. I had seen plenty of pictures of the Louvre but nothing compared to actually being there in person. It was absolutely breath taking. I was shocked how massive it was. Every corner there was something new to look at. I thought the triangle in the middle of the courtyard to enter the Louvre was pretty amazing. We had to wait around 45 minutes to get inside the museum but once we were finally inside, I was speechless. Inside is even bigger than it looks on the outside. The museum was completely massive. The first attraction we went to was the most famous, the Mona Lisa. As expected, there was a huge crowd surrounding the painting, however, I somehow managed to sneak to the front. Even though Mona Lisa is a huge attraction, I personally enjoyed some other less famous art pieces more. I was shocked how amazing the artist were and how realistic some of the painting resembled. Since the Louvre is so huge, this took a whole days worth.
Next, we visited the Norte Dame. This is a famous cathedral. Just like the Louvre, this establishment was beautiful both in the inside and out. The outside had beautiful architecture. The inside was very dark and open. Even though there was hundreds of people inside, it was still very quiet. The main light source inside was candles, which made the overall setting in the inside very spiritual. People were very engaged with the cathedral and many were praying. Even though I am not the most religious human, I still felt very enlightened and spiritual inside the Norte Dame. It was a beautiful attraction and definitely worth visiting.
The next day we did what every tourist has to do in Paris, visit the Eiffel Tower. Seeing this attraction in person was a feeling like no other. It was absolutely breathtaking and a dream come true that I had finally gotten to see the Eiffel Tower in person. It was more beautiful than what I have dreamed of it being. When I showed up to the tower I had to stop and just stare at its beauty for a solid 15 minutes before adventuring inside. When I was finally inside I had to wait in an hour line before catching an elevator to the top of the tower. Even though it costs a lot of money to ride the elevator to the top of the tower, it is definitely worth it. Even though the Eiffel Tower is beautiful from down below, the views from the top of the tower overlooking all of Paris is a sight like no other. From the top of the Eiffel, you could see all of Paris and all its beauty. It was a moment I will never forget.
Another extremely neat thing I did while in Paris was ride a river boat cruise that pointed out all the landmarks along the river. We went while the sun was setting, so river glowed to the sunset, which was absolutely beautiful. It was nice to have the boat drive us around and tour rather than us have to walk everywhere. We saw so much on the river tour that we have not seen yet. It was amazing and unforgettable.
After the boat tour, me and my mom bought a bottle of wine and cheese and sat on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower and watched the light show take place. Even though it was only 5 minutes long, it was still insanely neat. I was loving every moment I had in Paris and never wanted to leave.
If you ever are in Europe, visiting Paris is a must. Trust me you wont regret it. Paris was better than I have ever expected it to be. I will never forget my time stayed there and will definitely go back. It is so worth it.
