Hey everyone! I really can not believe that in less than 24 hours, I am heading to Belize to study large animal practices and wildlife conservation! I have been preparing for this for months, and it’s surreal to me that it’s finally here! I am really excited to get to know everyone in these programs who share the same passion for helping animals as I do, and I am even more excited to see all the wonderful things this beautiful Caribbean country has to offer! One interesting thing I already learned relates to some of the products I am bringing with me on my month-long journey: turns out one of the main ingredients in sunscreen, oxybenzone, can contribute to the bleaching the beautiful coral reefs in this ecosystem. Therefore, I made sure that my sunscreen is 100% natural and contains none of these chemicals so I can focus more on enjoying the fun things! I also have my scrubs, stethoscope, thermometer, Brita bottle, and even a small first aid kit in case something happens. Again, none of this would be possible without SEBS and their generous scholarship I have been incredibly fortunate to receive. I will be sure to post again very soon. Wish me luck!!!
