Hey everyone! I have arrived safely in Belize and already I have met so many amazing people and have done so much more than I ever thought I would. My first Belizean meal was a chicken and cheese quesadilla with fries, and it definitely tasted different than what I have at home. On Sunday, a group of us got to see the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich, where they lived there from about 1000 BC to 750 AD. Fun fact: El Castillo (the building I am standing in front of) is still the second tallest manmade structure in Belize! Finally, today I got to learn basic veterinary suture techniques and practice them on a chicken leg, which I have to admit was pretty daunting at first but I got the hang of it! The Belizean people are pretty friendly, and the markets/towns and activities seem like a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what else has in store!
