Yesterday with my classmates, we went to Südgelände Park. Südgelände is a park that used to function as a train station to carry cargo in Berlin, but it was closed down in 1952. During the 50 years that it was abandoned, many species started to grow, and so it became a diverse, species-rich natural oasis developed in the heart of a major city. The park serves as a place where artists can express themselves, can be set up as a theater for dance and performance by young artist or filmmakers. The space makes it necessary to be creative and active and try new ideas. I found fascinating all the graffiti that were on the wall that artists created to express themselves.
The next site we went to was the Tempelhofer Field, which is an airport that was closed down in 2008 and now serves as a public park. The park was very big and flat that it serves as a habitat for the birds.
