Week 1 in Belize! First impressions: very humid, beautiful wildlife and plants, and fans and water are your best friends the entire time! As soon as we hit the airport, I immediately get the humidity and the air was thicker. Much different than New Jersey weather. On the drive to the Tropical Education center, I noticed how everything is pretty much located on a main highway. We get to the TEC and settle in and we begin to look around and saw how beautiful and green everything is. Of course, we instantly took pictures and talked about every lizard, bug, bird, and flower we saw. I reviewed my syllabus and was excited to start on Monday. I arrived on Saturday and that day was just dedicated to settling in. Sunday was an unforgettable experience because we went on a cabe tubing and zip lining excursion. It is difficult to put into words how amazing that experience was. I never knew that Belizeans cared so much about their wildlife and plants but then our cave tubing guide showed us Belize’s beauty and informed us about its history. It is just an experience you have to be there for! So far, it’s been worth it!
