This weekend I took a trip with other students to a more southern part of Israel. We started in Jerusalem and took a walking tour of the old city. It was unbelievable to see all the old religious monuments and the actual locations from which the stories took place. I especially was amazed by the city because of how diverse it was in terms of all the different religions practicing in such a confined area. The city was very crowded, as it was a Friday, and many different tours were taking places making it very hectic and busy. After the old city we went to a famous market that was equally crowded and ate some authentic local food (shwarma!). The next day we took a hike through the desert and then ventured to the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea was just as people describe, beautiful, slightly painful, and definitely salty! Overall this weekend trip was incredible as I was able to see different parts of the country that were vastly different then were I have been living. Pictured is the sun rise over the Dead Sea (5:30 am).
