Here is the second part to my last post while I was still in Belize.
6/20/19 – Today was awesome!! We did a necropsy on a white lipped peccary. I have never seen one done before or have been involved in a necropsy so it was really surreal. I learned a lot from Dr. Restis and I cannot thank her enough for all that she did this entire trip, today especially. Today we also had the opportunity to put our enrichment ideas to the test by building them and putting them in the enclosure of our animals. My group and I did the howler monkey and we made ours out of egg cartons. The male seemed to enjoy it and that felt rewarding knowing he could now have something to do!
6/21/19 – Last day of activities was today. We ended up taking an exam (which I ended up doing well on, thank god) and our presentations. My friend Safa and i did our presentation on animal behavior and it went pretty well. We finally got to see our camera trap photos that we placed and we saw a puma! I got back to the room and started packing before we went out to Amigos (a restaurant) for one last time. It was a good night and it ended on a pretty good note.
6/22/19 – I am currently in the airport and its crazy having air conditioning after 2 weeks of none. Definitely missed it. I cannot believe im going home its been a wild trip and im so happy I made friends here!
I don’t have as many pictures this time around, but I will post more overall in my next post.
