This past week has been filled with continued lab work with little update to be given. We have continued to work on microscopy and imaging of cells however nothing major has occurred other than further data collection. At the end of the week (the Israeli work week ends Thursdays and starts at Sundays) my program is taking a two day trip to northern Israel. We will first stop at coast town called Haifa which is home to a famous botanical garden called the Bahai Gardens. Further we will be going on a tour of a German colony and even kayaking on the Jordan River! I am extremely excited for this trip and can not wait to finally go! I will make a post during the trip to add pictures and update on the activities and experience.
One thing that I have noticed about Israel is how quite the country gets on the weekends. Because their are many religious people here who observe sabbath it seems as if the entire city goes quiet on the weekends. It is incredible to see streets that are usually always busy and malls that are often full of people go almost completely silent on the weekend.
