Classes ended early today for our travel weekend. On the last two days of class this week we went to the largest Botanischer Garten and saw different plants from all around the world. There were some huge plants, very large lily pads, 100+-year-old cacti, tall bamboo, and so much more. From there we ẃent to see the Soviet war memorial which also a pretty cool site to see. On the last day of class in Berlin, we went to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. this was a shorter day of class, but definitely, the most mentally draining yet. It is hard to believe everything that happened and went on. I took a Holocaust class in high school and learned all about everything that went on and happened. I have seen pictures and videos from that time too. However, to stand on the same grounds where thousands of people were taken from their families, starved, beaten, tortured, and murdered was a whole different outlook. To see a barrack and to see how people lived here was extremely emotional. To experience walking the grounds of a concentration camp is absolutely nothing compared to just sitting in a classroom learning about it.
