The past two days we were in Potsdam, Germany. This was really cool to go to and see. The castles around this area of Germany are beautiful. The way that is viewpoints throughout the landscape to see across to other castles are really cool. On the first day in Potsdam, we climbed Belvedere and saw another awesome view. Just to be able to see out into the distance and over the green landscapes is so cool. The climb up the spiral staircase did make me a little dizzy, and the down, even dizzier. But the view was so worth it. On the second day in Potsdam, we saw Sanssouci. This was beyond beautiful and I really got an idea about designing using an axis. The main axis, which is actually the newer one, has a straight on the look to the newer palace. The original palace is actually another axis running perpendicular to the main axis. The way that this palace has an axis running from the ruins straight through to the middle of a large fountain is amazing. From Sanssouci, we went to Brandenburger Straße. Here we saw another example of using an axis. At one end is a church, and at the other end is the Brandenburg Gate at the Potsdam end (separate from the other one we saw in the first few days).
