Today we presented our final presentations as a group. Our group went first and I think we did a really good job. Then we got to see all the different ideas that the other groups had. It was a pretty fun and informative day.

 

We went out tonight to celebrate the end of our studio week and to prepare for our last week in Germany.

 

Today we visited our site for the project for the first time. We walked around and took all of the measurements of sound in the different spaces. My group finished all of our points before lunch. After we ate, we walked around and took measurements of buildings and did some sketching while we waited for the other groups to finish.

 

When we got home I made dinner and went to bed after finishing some research because I knew we had a long week ahead.

Today we visited Pheonixsee. It was a man-made lake with a community built around it. Like always, we climbed to the highest point in the area to get the best view. We even played with an abstracted version of the can and string phones. We walked around the town and found a place for lunch. The vegan burger that I had was amazing. 

Travel Day!!! Today we are leaving Berlin. It is kind of bittersweet. This means we are about halfway through the trip, and we are leaving such an amazing city. I have really had such an amazing time here. The exciting part is going to Essen. Now we will soon be starting the studio portion of the trip. I am very excited.

 

After we go to Essen we all went out for a big group dinner. Going out to eat as a vegetarian seems like it might be a bit harder in Essen than it was in Berlin. Only time will tell.

Today we did a lot of walking. We walked through Tiergarten Park. Then we climbed the 281 steps (yes I counted) to reach the top of the Victory Column. The view was pretty amazing. We spent the rest of the day in the park and then took the train home. We went out for sushi for dinner at the Japanese Hot Dog stand. So far we’ve already eaten there four times. This could become a reoccurring theme. 

 

After dinner, a couple of other people and I walked to a park around the block. We drank beer and played on the swings. There were a lot of people there drinking and playing ping pong. It was a very fun way to end a long day.
